Name: Tyler Charneski

School: De Pere

Area of Interest: Band

Parents: Tonya and Thomas Charneski

As many do, Tyler Charneski said he got his start with band as a fifth grader – in his case with the trombone.

Charneski said his love for band really began blossoming when he became part of the after school jazz ensemble.

“I love being able to express myself through my instrument and connect to others without either of us having to know anything about the other,” he said.

Charneski said as a high-schooler, he is quite involved in the band program.

“I performed in the pit orchestra for this year’s musical, Matilda, as well as performing in the Jam Session Show Band,” he said.

Charneski’s love for music and band has inspired him to make it a career after high school.

“I’m planning on becoming a band director myself when I graduate from college. I want to attend the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for music education,” he said. “Personally, joining band was one of the best choices I’ve ever made, and I would encourage anyone looking into it, no matter what their age, to pick up an instrument and try it out for themselves.”
